Los Angeles Lakers’ guard Kobe Bryant has had a rough couple of years.
At the end of the 2012-2013 season, Kobe Bryant tore his Achilles tendon. He vowed to make a quick recovery and did just that, returning to the court in December of 2013. Kobe Bryant’s comeback last just six games before he suffered a fractured left knee that sidelined him for the rest of the season.
On Tuesday night, he will be making yet another return when the Lakers open their season by hosting former Lakers’ center Dwight Howard and the Houston Rockets.
Many have lowered their expectations for Kobe Bryant and expect the future Hall-of-Famer and five-time NBA Champion to continue to fall off this season.
However, Lakers’ general manager Mitch Kuchak and the organization still have very high hopes for Kobe Bryant.
“I think he can make the All-Star team…I think he’ll have the ability to score when he wants to score,” Kupchak told TWCSportsNet via Lakers Nation. “I think he’ll be a great leader. His voice will be heard….He won’t be like he was fifteen years ago… that wirey, springy, try to dunk the ball every time…but you won’t notice it.”
As for being an All-Star, Kobe Bryant will almost certainly be on the team whether he deserves it or not because he will be voted in by the fans.
Kobe Bryant played in just six games and averaged 13.1 points, 6.3 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. He shot 42.5% from the field, 18.8% from beyond the arc and 85.7% from the free throw line. In his historic career, he has averaged 25.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game while shooting 45.4% from the field, 33.5% from three and 83.8% from the charity stripe in his career.
