Yes, you read that correctly.
The Hurricanes were the only team during the month of October to go completely winless. Even the struggling Buffalo Sabres and the faltering Arizona Coyotes were doing better than them.
So far, they’re undefeated for November.
It’s only two games into the month, but the Hurricanes- who had started to earn the nickname ‘Connorlina’, because they were outpacing everyone in the race to #TankForMcDavid- have won them both. They shut out the Arizona Coyotes 3-0 on Saturday night, and came back Sunday night to overpower the Kings 3-2.
The team has recently regained the services of captain Eric Staal, but it has to be more than that. The team had only brought two of their eight October contests into overtime, losing the other six in regulation.
It could be that the Kings and the Coyotes are simply in a slump, giving the Hurricanes the opportunity to bring home a couple of much-needed wins. With their losses, both Pacific Division franchises advanced to four-game and three-game losing streaks, respectively, and it’s looking like the Coyotes could be headed to their fourth loss against the equally struggling Washington Capitals Sunday night as well.
Should the Hurricanes truly be heating up, though, the Eastern Conference needs to worry- because Jordan Staal will be back in the lineup before you know it.
