Actor and former Florida State running back Burt Reynolds is returning to plant the spear at FSU
Mark your calendars Florida State Seminoles fans. ‘The Bandit’ is back. Actor and Florida State alum Burt Reynolds is going to plant the spear at midfield at Doak Campbell Stadium prior to the game against the Boston College Golden Eagles on November 22nd.

In one of the more popular NCAA football traditions, Reynolds will get the Seminole fans all riled up prior to their ABC/ESPN game on with the spear of fire. Game time has not been announced yet. Also no word on weather he enters the stadium in a Trans Am or not.
Of course he could also come on the field dressed in his Mean Machine uniform, as seen in The Longest Yard. Imagine if FSU brought back Nate Scarborough FSU-style? It would be epic. That might not happen but this poster seen here below is pretty epic if you ask me.
When the Seminoles had former coach Bobby Bowden plant the spear last season I wasn’t sure they could top it. Bringing in Reynolds is going to be a very cool sight to see. Even if he just rides in on the horse as usually done in the pre-game tradition, it will still be talked about for a long time. Let’s just hope it isn’t anything like ESPN College Gameday’s Lee Corso try on set in 2013.
Somehow I think ‘The Bandit’ has this. Either way, FSU fan or not, I will be tuning in to see just how good or bad this goes.
