Torii Hunter Unlikely To Return To Detroit Tigers
By Ed Carroll
Torii Hunter likely has played his final MLB game with the Detroit Tigers, as GM Dave Dombrowksi told Hunter the team probably won’t re-sign him.
Looks like outfielder Torii Hunter will have to move on from the Detroit Tigers and try to chase a championship ring elsewhere:

Probably both good news and bad news for Tigers fans, as Detroit’s outfield is a bit of a mess for 2015, and Hunter might have been able to help clean up the mess, but beyond the next season he likely would have been a burden on what will likely be an already overpaid and aging roster.
At age 39, Hunter can still hit, even if it’s not like he did in his younger days, and had 17 home runs for Detroit last season. But his defense has deteriorated past the point of being useful in right field, and he was worth an awful -18 Defensive Runs Saved in the outfield for the Tigers last season.
The Minnesota Twins, Hunter’s original team, are rumored to have interest if Hunter is willing to be the veteran presence on a growing team, but if Hunter wants to chase a ring, he should probably look for an AL team that needs a designated hitter, because giving him a glove anymore is just scary.
