So nobody should be surprised that Cuban took a colossal shot at the Los Angeles Lakers on Tuesday.
From an interview on The Fred Roggin Show on The Beast 980:
"As far as the Lakers go, I think there are going to be a lot of teams that are saying, “I’ve got a ton of cap room,” and signing three big free agents to come play for them. Los Angeles has always been considered a destination city, so maybe they feel that’s a valid strategy. You know me, Fred. Personally, I just hope they suck forever."
Of course Cuban doesn’t want to see the Lakers get back on top.
They’ve proven to be a huge threat to the Mavericks during Cuban’s time as team owner and it makes sense he doesn’t want to see them return to excellence and harm his chances of winning a second championship with the Mavericks.
This is far from the first time Cuban has gone after the Lakers. Over the years, he’s suggested that the Lakers might not ever be great without Jerry Buss, that the team should consider amnestying Kobe Bryant and he also discredited the Lakers’ signings of Dwight Howard and Steve Nash in 2012 (in retrospect, he was right).
Mark Cuban trolling the Lakers: A tradition unlike any other.
