When it comes to dealing with injuries, few know better than New York Knicks forward Amare Stoudemire who had what looked to be a Hall of Fame career derailed by such.
Now it’s his teammate Carmelo Anthony dealing with injury as he’s been sidelined by a bad back, though it’s far worse than that according to Stoudemire .
The New York Knicks big man has dealt with a comparable injury in regards to Anthony’s bad back and painted a rather painful picture of what the All-Star forward is dealing with.
“Back spasms is nothing easy to deal with,’’ Stoudemire said. “Your whole body shuts down, it affects your central nervous system. It affects your entire body. It takes time to get over that spasm. It takes a lot of rest and recovery and a lot of rehab to get over that particular injury.’’
Perhaps the scariest part for Carmelo Anthony and the New York Knicks is that Amare Stoudemire played through his back pain and eventually found himself unable to move. That lead to a bulging disc in Stoudemire’s back and a significant amount of missed time.
Understandably the New York Knicks what to be cautious with their franchise player so it’s possible Carmelo Anthony could sit out a handful of games in hopes that rest will get him back on the right track and fully healthy.
Knicks head coach Derek Fisher said he spoke with Anthony recently and the former Orangman stated he still is not feeling well and is pain, so expect to see a lot of J.R. Smith in his absence.
Talk about adding insult to injury, literally.
