One of the story lines heading into the Iron Bowl Saturday night was the health of Auburn wide receiver D’haquille Williams. If this catch means anything, he’s fine.
Auburn wide receiver D’haquille Williams went down to the wire before it was determined he would play in Saturday’s Iron Bowl at Alabama.
Williams injured his leg in a Auburn’s loss to Texas A&M on Nov. 8 and did not play in a loss at Georgia Nov. 15 or a win over Samford last week.
But Williams was back in action for the Iron Bowl and the big junior receiver helped set up an Auburn score with a nifty grab of a Nick Marshall pass for a 42-yard gain.
The play helped the Tigers get deep into Crimson Tide territory—the gain moved the ball from Auburn’s 41-yard line to the Alabama 17.

After Marshall converted a fourth-and-1 to give the Tigers a first-and-goal at the Alabama 7, the Tide pass defense held up, with Marshall throwing three straight incompletions before Daniel Carlson booted a 24-yard field goal.
That cut Alabama’s early lead to 14-6 with 2:57 to go in the first quarter. The Crimson Tide still led by that count at quarter’s end.
Alabama (10-1) came in ranked No. 1 in the College Football Playoff rankings. Auburn (8-3) was ranked No. 15.
