Coming into the season, many pundits questioned if the Toronto Raptors could maintain the success they achieved last year as somewhat of a Cinderella story.
So far they’ve had no problems doing so as they sit atop the NBA’s Atlantic Division with a stellar 13-3 record.
Sadly though that record may get a few more dents in it come the next few weeks and possibly months as star guard DeMar DeRozan will be out indefinitely after suffering a torn left adductor in Friday night’s game.
That’s the word from the Toronto Raptors themselves as they announced the tough news this morning.
DeRozan traveled with the team and was hopeful to possibly even play in their Saturday night game before test results came through. However that is no longer an option given the seriousness of the injury.
In terms of a potential return, no timetable was given though it’s likely to be a multiple game absence for DeMar DeRozan when compared to players who’ve suffered the same injury. It’s by no stretch a worst case scenario as there was some fear the injury suffered by the guard could have been potentially season ending, though it’s still not good as the adductor muscle brings the leg towards the body.
For now it appears a collection of Greivis Vasquez, Terrence Ross, Lou Williams and James Johnson will attempt to make up the minutes now vacated by DeRozan’s absence. Hopefully he’s not out too long and can return to the court completely healthy sometime over the next few weeks.
