Carmelo Anthony: ‘Bulls Were A Perfect Fit For Me’
By Evan Massey
New York Knicks superstar Carmelo Anthony told the NBA media that the Chicago Bulls were a perfect fit for him in free agency.
Carmelo Anthony made the decision to return to the New York Knicks in NBA free agency this past offseason, but the Chicago Bulls were one of the teams that were most interest in signing him. Rumors about Anthony heading to Chicago started in the middle of last season and didn’t stop circulating until he made the announcement that he would return to New York.

Reports now are stating that Anthony had decided to sign with the Bulls before changing his mind in the end and returning to the Knicks. He talked to the media about the decision and how the Bulls were a perfect fit for him.
"“It was one part of time where I was just like, ‘Yo, I’m going.’ It came down to Chicago and New York. Chicago was the one that, from day one, was something that I was very impressed with. They was looking for a person like me to come in and just take them to the next level,” Anthony said. “So it was perfect. It was a perfect setup, perfect fit for me in Chicago. But then also I had to think about just living in Chicago. Do I want to live in Chicago? Do I want to take everything that I created in New York and move all of that? It came down to that.”"
Anthony has gotten off to a bit of a slow start this season, but has begun playing at a high level once again. Despite the rocky start, he is averaging 23.5 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.3 assists per game. He is also shooting 46.3 percent from the floor overall and 36.2 percent from behind the three-point arc.
Chicago has dealt with quite a few injury issues, but are still a team that many see being a favorite in the Eastern Conference once they get back to full strength. Having Anthony on the roster would make them a lot more dangerous, and he would have a much better chance at a championship as well.
All of that being said, he made the decision to return to New York and hope to build a championship contender. He may end up regretting that choice, but the Bulls aren’t too terribly upset with what he decided to do. They have an emerging Jimmy Butler to go along with Pau Gasol, Joakim Noah, Taj Gibson, and Derrick Rose.
