Elfrid Payton Brings Free-Throw Shooting To An All-Time Low (Video)
By Evan Massey
Orlando Magic and NBA rookie Elfrid Payton brought free-throw shooting to an all-time low with two air balls in a row against the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Orlando Magic faced off against the Los Angeles Clippers, and it was a game that the Clippers made it clear they weren’t going to lose. It always intriguing to see watch the Magic play against better competition, as they have already come up with some wins against solid competition. Rookie point guard Elfrid Payton has been extremely up-and-down so far this season, and that was the case once again against L.A.

Payton ended up with a very solid eight points and six assists, but it was what he did at the free-throw line that attracted most of the attention for him. He stepped up and air balled the first shot, then played it off and tried to warm up his hands. Once he looks comfortable he stepped to the line, and promptly air balled this second shot as well.
Take a look at the two free-throws here:
It’s very rare to see a guard air ball two free-throws in a row, but perhaps he can use the excuse that he is young and nerves are still an issue. That being said, it doesn’t negate the embarrassment that was felt by actually missing both foul shots that badly, but it’s something he can say to console himself. Either way, this is something that never should happen to a guard that is in an NBA rotation.
