Two days after winning the SEC Championship Game and one day after securing a big in the Sugar Bowl as part of the first College Football Playoff, the Alabama Crimson added to their No. 1 recruiting class with the commitment of four-star outside linebacker Adonis Thomas (Lawrenceville, GA Central Gwinnett) who became the 22nd member of Nick Saban’s 2015 class.
Thomas is the No. 175 recruit regardless of position, No. 11 outside linebacker and the No. 19 recruit in the talent-rich state of Georgia, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
The 6-3.5, 229-pound Thomas took two unofficial visits to Alabama during the season after decommitting from the Florida Gators on Oct. 23 amid concerns over the fate of former Florida head coach Will Muschamp. He was in Tuscaloosa for the game against No. 1 Mississippi State and Western Carolina in back-to-back weeks as his interest was clearly favoring the Tide over offers from the likes of LSU and Texas A&M, among others.
Thomas is the third outside linebacker to commit to this year’s class and is the highest-ranked recruit of the three.
Alabama already had the No. 1 class prior to the commitment of Thomas so their stranglehold on a fourth straight year with the No. 1 class is stronger now in anticipation of National Signing Day on February 4.
