Orlando Scandrick Schooled A Kid At Madden To Teach Him A Lesson
By Cory Buck
Dallas Cowboys cornerback Orlando Scandrick whipped a kid at Madden during a charity event, citing the game as a life lesson for those striving to improve.
Orlando Scandrick is an intense dude. If you are nine years old and in a hospital, you can expect no quarter from this man when video games are involved. Just ask the kid who dared challenge the Dallas Cowboys cornerback to a game of Madden during a team event at the hospital.

Not only was the kid losing, but Scandrick was going for two and trying onsides kicks to keep it going. Scandrick’s thought process? Suck it up and learn from it.
“Nothing is going to be given to you, so I don’t think I should have gave him anything,” Scandrick said per ESPN. “I made him better if anything. I wasn’t teaching any lessons, but when you play a competitive game, you’ve got to expect to be competitive. If they didn’t want you to go for two and to kick onside kicks, it wouldn’t be on the game.”
Scandrick then noted the game was ‘just for fun’. Well, which is it? Were you there to have fun with a nine-year-old kid or to bury him under a deluge of pixelated DeMarco Murray runs?
Despite the fact that Scandrick probably just did that stuff because he’s insanely competitive, he believes he did teach the kid a good life lesson in the process. He detailed said lesson.
“You’ve got to work your craft,” Scandrick said. “You’ve got to work your stuff. I might need it in a different ‘Madden’ game. I need to know how to do it. Sometimes you might be playing an intense ‘Madden’ game and you might need to steal a possession. Sometimes you might not be able to stop the other team or it might be hard for you to score points, so I had to see if I still had my onside kick.”
See, kids? Work your craft. How can you be master of Madden onside kicks if you’re not jamming that onside kick? Thanks for the heads up, Orlando.
