Tom Savage Hands Ball Off To A Ghost (Video)

During today’s game, Tom Savage got a taste of NFL action for the first time in his career. The results were uninspired to say the least.

Who do you turn to when your starting quarterback is lost for the season? For the Houston Texans, that man is Tom Savage, the 4th round pick (135th overall in the 2014 draft) out of University of Pittsburgh. In the team’s 17-10 loss at Indy, Ryan Fitzpatrick’s season came to an end in the second quarter when he went down with what would later be revealed as a broken leg.

On the day, Savage was just 10 of 19 through the air, accounting for just 127 yards, no TD, and 1 INT. Of everything that occurred in today’s game, there were really only 3 memorable moments of notes. The first is Fitzpatrick’s season ending injury. The second is the Colts clinching another AFC South division title under Andrew Luck. Finally there is the following play which, in a way, encompasses the entirety of this 7-7 season for the Texans.

Yeah, that looks about right. Most would ask who Savage was trying to hand the ball off to, but at this point does it really even matter?

DeAndre Hopkins has begun to emerge as a legitimate weapon in the team’s passing attack, Arian Foster is having another great season, despite missing time again with injuries, and JJ Watt is playing MVP level football. Well, Andre Johnson appears to be showing signs of regression, JJ Watt cannot play both sides of the ball, Arian Foster cannot stay healthy for a full season, and your newly efficient quarterback was just lost for the remaining stretch of the regular season.
