Travels are not usually called at the NBA level, although you can find quite a few of them throughout the course of a game if you watch. That was the case once again when the Golden State Warriors traveled into Memphis to take on the Grizzlies.
Mike Conley got to the rim and put in a bucket with just a few minutes left in the game, but it was obvious that he had taken three pronounced steps on his way to the bucket. Two steps is all that a player is allowed, and Andre Iguodala noticed that there were three. Unfortunately, he compounded the issue by picking up a technical foul due to mocking the play and the ref felt that he was mocking him.
Take a look at how everything went down for yourself:
These are the types of plays that the NBA has to begin locking down on. They can’t afford to continue allowing huge buckets at the end of games when there are obvious travels involved. All of that being said, they allowed this one and Iguodala made things worse on his team by picking up a technical and giving the Grizzlies another free point.
