By Evan Massey
West Virginia Mountaineers quarterback Clint Trickett posted a note to the fans following his retirement due to concussions.
Clint Trickett had by far the most successful season of his career this year with the West Virginia Mountaineers, and led his team to a lot of success. Unfortunately, he was forced to retire this past week due to concussion problems and will miss the teams bowl game against the Texas A&M Aggies in the Liberty Bowl.

He put together an impressive season, throwing for 3,285 yards, 18 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions. His offense was extremely fun to watch with wide receivers Kevin White and Mario Alford always being poised to make big plays.
There were a few analysts and scouts that saw a potential future for Trickett in the NFL, but most didn’t see him making it to professional football. He had a very strong arm, but he wasn’t as consistent as an NFL quarterback needs to be. That being said, this is still a very disappointing piece of news to see, and it is going to be hard on him to miss his final college football game.
Trickett took the time to post a note on Twitter to thank all of the fans that supported him, and it was very heartwarming.
It sounds like Trickett is going to pursue a coaching career, which would be a very smart decision for him. His father, Rick, is one of the best offensive line coaches in the nation at Florida State.
