Warner Bros. is getting its superhero universe off the ground and confirmed that Shazam will be joining the universe to be inhabited by Batman and Superman.
Warner Bros. and DC Comics won’t be releasing its Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice until the spring of 2016, but that universe will also be inhabited by Shazam, a character scheduled to be released in the speculatively titled Billy Batson and the Legend of Shazam in 2019.
At some point, the remainder of the Justice League cast will join that universe as well.
But according to ScreenRant.com, Shazam—known as “Earth’s Mightiest Mortal”—will be part of the same universe as Superman.

DC announced earlier this year that 10 films are planned in that universe. Besides the Batman and Superman fare, there are plans for Wonder Woman, Justice League Part 1, The Flash, Aquaman, Shazam, Justice League Part 2, Cyborg and Green Lantern.
DC’s summary also included Shazam, putting to rest any concerns fans might have had about where their favorite hero would end up in the overall scheme of things.
Shazam is a lighter tone than Superman, of course, the story of a boy suddenly given Superman’s powers and physique, but from a marketing standpoint, it probably makes more sense for the studio to glue the two together than try to have competing worlds.
In any event, it looks like we’ll have a lot of superhero fare to consume over the next several years.
