Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Nick Foles strongly believes he’ll be their starter next season.
Nick Foles and the Philadelphia Eagles got off to a 6-2 start to the season, but a broken collarbone ended his season early. The Eagles wound up missing the playoffs, and finishing the season with a 10-6 record.

Philadelphia saw Foles take over the starting quarterback job last season after Michael Vick went down with an injury. He put up impressive numbers in relief for Vick, compiling 2,891 yards, 27 touchdowns, and two interceptions in 13 games. His numbers this year took a dip, throwing for 2,163 yards, 13 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions.
Mark Sanchez took over for Foles this season, and played a solid season after being run out of New York. He finished the year with 2,418 yards, 14 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions.
At this point in time, Foles firmly believes that he is going to be the starting quarterback for the Eagles next season. Sanchez didn’t play poorly, but he isn’t as good of a fit for Chip Kelly’s system as Foles is due to decision-making and arm strength capabilities.
“I expect to be back here. I expect to be the quarterback,” Foles said, via Philly.com. “I love my teammates and I expect to be back out there, leading them and winning some games. I’m excited to come back better than I ever have been.”
Foles is still just 25 years old, which gives him plenty of time to improve and be the franchise quarterback that the Eagles need. He has shown flashes of that potential, but he took a major step backwards this year with his play and getting injured didn’t help. Philadelphia had all of the talent to make a run into the playoffs this season, but they simply couldn’t get the job done down the stretch.
All of that being said, Foles will more than likely be welcomed back with open arms next season. He is a better quarterback than Mark Sanchez, and has a lot more upside than Matt Barkley.
