Green Bay Packers star quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ calf will not heal, according to a specialist.

Aaron Rodgers had to be carted off the field with a calf injury against the Detroit Lions this past week, but was able to come back after halftime and lead the Green Bay Packers to victory.

Unfortunately, the playoffs are here and his calf injury is still a major concern moving forward. According to a specialist named Ken Jung, Rodgers’ calf will not heal this season and he is going to have to play through the injury. Jung states that there is some tearing in Rodgers’ calf, and that playing on his injured calf is doing more harm than good.

"“There’s some amount of tearing, anywhere from low grade or high grade. Obviously, it’s probably at least a pretty low grade if he’s able to keep playing on it, versus if it’s a really high grade he probably wouldn’t be able to play on it. So there are basically small tears, like micro tears. Those areas can definitely get re-aggravated if you’re trying to stress a muscle that already has a previous injury. Basically, you don’t want to be trying to push through any pain at this point,” Jung said. “You’ve got to really listen to your body.”"

Green Bay saw Rodgers play what many believe to be the best season of his career this past year, as he threw for 4,381 yards and 38 touchdowns. Perhaps the most impressive stat was that he threw just five interceptions on the season.

It is going to be very interesting to see what ends up happening with Rodgers throughout the rest of the playoffs. Playing through that type of pain is not going to be easy in big games, but Rodgers is a warrior who knows what he’s sacrificing his body for as he badly wants another Super Bowl title.

Rodgers will decide how far the Packers go this season, and whether or not they can represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. They have what could be a better roster than the last Super Bowl team, with Eddie Lacy, Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson, and Clay Matthews all being contributors. That being said, the Packers will live and die with Rodgers’ play and as everything is resting on the strength of his calf.
