Chris Christie says Philadelphia Eagles are ‘the worst in America’

Christ Christie may have forever lost the presidential votes of every Philadelphia Eagles fan in America.

New Jersey mayor Chris Christie was seen with Jerry Jones on Sunday night during the Cowboys playoff win, where he was overheard throwing shade at Eagles fans.

This may not seem like that big of a deal, as some Americans may not even know who Chris Christie is or why the governor of New Jersey should matter to them. But this could end up being a political controversy all because of a few shots from an NFC Wild Card game that aired on television.

Christie, who is the governor of New Jersey, has been a life-long Dallas Cowboys fan and has never been afraid to throw his support behind his team. This creates a problem though, as not only does revealing sports affiliations sometimes hurt candidates in the voting booths, but Christie is the governor of a state that houses one of the Cowboys biggest rivals.

Add to that the fact that according to New York Times writer Michael Barbaro, the New Jersey mayor was overheard saying that Philadelphia Eagles fans are the worst in America.

This isn’t just hilarious to hear someone in political power unabashedly say, but it will more than likely have political ramifications if Chris Christie ever decides to run for president in 2016.

Not only will Christie’s affiliation with the Cowboys hurt him in Michigan, but he just lost all the votes in Philadelphia booths as well as any Eagles fans spread out around the country. There are few fan bases worse in the NFL than Eagles fans when it comes to people who take their loyalty to their team seriously.

What also hurts Christie is his blind loyalty to Jerry Jones, a figure not many people would go on record as defending, let alone vote for someone who is a supporter of him. This all seems arbitrary, but the American voter takes all issues into consideration when choosing a candidate for president, including what sports team you root for and which old, shriveled up owner you get cozy with.
