$600 million dollars doesn’t seem to tough to raise, right?

Having dreams is what makes us Americans. Some aim small. They dream about an afternoon nap, or two Snickers bars coming out of the vending machine when only one was paid for.

Others, however, dream big…really big. Longtime Atlanta Hawks fan Mark Field DiNatale is one of these big dreamers. Once he heard his favorite team was up for sale, he decided to get in the mix as a possible NBA owner.

According to For The Win, DiNatale has turned to CrowdFunding in attempt to raise the $600 million necessary to purchase the Hawks.

DiNatale wrote this on the GoFundMe page:

"“Together we can be the first fully crowd funded professional sports team in history! Yes, we can make history together. Imagine that. A fully crowd funded professional sports team. It would be everyone’s team. The first internet based sports franchise. You, me and everyone we know can be a Hawks fan and contributor. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you live, or if you’re into professional basketball or not. It’s simple, let’s make history.”"

The man grades out at an A for such an extremely great effort and an imaginative mind. But as it happens, DiNatale is just a normal-Joe like myself, and isn’t a millionaire.

To his credit though he’s raised nearly $70,000 so far, and has promised all the money will be returned if he is unsuccessful in his bid.

The reversal of that $70,000 will be coming soon as the last NBA franchise was sold for nearly $2 billion. Also, the first “Fully CrowdFunded” owners would have to gain approval from the already existing NBA owners.

DiNatale couldn’t have chosen a better year with his attempt either as his Hawks are thriving at the moment, entering tonight with a record of 27-8 which ranks them third in the league in winning percentage.
