The Blue Demons get an A+ for bench creativity

In basketball, when a guy hits a big shot the bench usually erupts in some manner, as players jump and run onto the court or get held back by teammates caught in the moment. The DePaul Blue Demons go the extra mile, having choreographed celebrations for every big time three-pointer their team hit.

DePaul is right in the thick of the conference race in the Big East with a 9-9 record and a 3-2 conference record. With visiting Georgetown in town Tuesday, the Blue Demons bench had their celebrations ready for such a necessary event.

After the Blue Demons hit some big threes, the bench erupted for what appears to be one player paddling a boat and another couple of players looking through a periscope to see the long-distance bomb.

The celebrations were hilarious, to say the least. The Blue Demons would eventually fall in a close one to the Hoyas, but their bench and the team’s solid record have given people a reason to keep watching DePaul basketball.

The Blue Demons take on the No 21. Pirates of Seton Hall next Thursday. Perhaps another boat inspired celebration might be par for the course.

Whatever it may be, the fans are expecting a show.
