On Friday, it was announced that Menzel has been chosen to sing the national anthem before Super Bowl XLIX at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona on Feb. 1.
Last summer, Idina Menzel sang the national anthem prior to the MLB All-Star Game, and now she will get to let it go and flex her golden pipes on an even bigger stage where most of the country will be watching.
This will be Menzel’s first Super Bowl performance.
While Menzel is belting out the “Star Spangled Banner,” Treshelle Edmond will be performing in sign language.
Along with Menzel, John Legend will be part of the pre-game festivities. He will be singing “America The Beautiful.” While Menzel and Legend will be performing prior to the game, pop star Katy Perry will do the halftime show.
Oh, and if you are one of those people who likes to participate in the prop bets including the length of the national anthem, a word of advice: Take the over.
