Boston Coffee shop capitalizes on deflate-gate by selling ‘deflated cookies’.

It seems that everywhere you turn today, you’re reminded of Sunday’s AFC championship game. However, chances are you aren’t being bombarded with stories about the score or the incredible performance displayed by the New England Patriots.  This was a game that should have had novels written about the positives, but no…everyone is talking about how the Patriots potentially cheated by using under-inflated footballs.

It seems you can’t even get a cup of coffee in Boston without being reminded of the possibility that your beloved Patriots are being investigated by the NFL for cheating by way of tampering with the football. Reports have been confirmed that 11 of the 12 balls used by the Patriots were under-inflated by as much as 15%!

If you’re wondering how this would be an advantage, let me drop some knowledge on you: If the ball is under inflated, then there would be more “give” for the quarterback/receiver/ball carrier. It would make control of the ball a lot easier than if the ball was fully inflated. It would be especially beneficial on a cold miserable night like the one the Patriots and Colts had to play on this past Sunday.

This has left a lot of Boston natives feeling a little embarrassed or ashamed, but some have seen the funny side about the whole situation.

“Boston Common Coffee” have taken the opportunity to sell “deflated cookies at an deflated price.” Genius marketing and humor if you ask me.

According to Boston Magazine,Peter Femino, co-owner of the coffee shop, is embarrassed, but see’s the funny side of Deflate-Gate.

"“We are just making light of it. I’m embarrassed that they did it, but I have a sense of humor, too. The world needs to laugh more.” – Peter Femino"

I’m not sure fans of the Indianapolis Colts will see the funny side, but who knows. The cookies are said to be doing better than Tom Brady did in the game, though.

Brady will lead his team out against the Seattle Seahawks on February 1 with the hope of capturing his fourth ring. It goes without saying that the balls being used on that day will be under much scrutiny and the investigations will rage on between now and then.
