UPDATE: 1/23/15: Yesterday, a story about former wrestling star Booker T thwarting a robbery with his signature scissor kick. That story is fake. We were initially duped by the story, because we so badly wanted it to be real.We apologize if we initially misled anyone, but you should still read the story because it hilarious and will have you wishing it was true. Perhaps one day Booker T will thwart a robbery by running across McDonald’s tables shirtless before performing the spinaroonie. Can you dig it?

Booker T left the wrestling scene—at least the in-the-ring part of it—five years ago, but he’s still got some moves. There’s a robber who found out the hard way.

Employees at a McDonald’s restaurant in suburban Houston are grateful WWE Hall of Famer Booker T was jonesing for some fries Tuesday night.

The 49-year-old former professional wrestler and current commentator is credited for subduing a lone gunman during an attempted robbery, via his signature scissor-kick move.

An 18-year-old restaurant employee said that it was like something that should have happened on TV, rather than right in front of him, according to the fake report.

“I mean, Booker was sitting down with his family. … You know, being a normal customer—but then this guy came in with a gun and all of a sudden he’s pointing it at my face and telling me he wants money,” Andrew Torres said.

“It was really scary because the diner was at full capacity … but when they guy in the mask came in, it went completely silent. I was in complete shock—I couldn’t even move my arms.”

Torres has said that Booker T—whose real name is Booker Tio Huffman Jr.—removed his shirt and started to shout his old wrestling catch phrase, “Can you dig it, sucka?!” before sprinting across the restaurant and taking down the robber with his signature wrestling move.

Restaurant manager Sara Tampico called the citizen’s arrest “spectacular,” even though she admitted she had no idea who he was.

“Mr. Huffman stood on the table and removed his shirt before bounding across the restaurant, table to table,” Tampico said. “He was flying through the air and his [dreadlocks] were going everywhere.

“He scissor-kicked the robber and knocked him out cold.

“He was flying so high in the air that his waist was in line with the gunman’s head.”

Police in South Houston, Texas, have not commented publicly, but did confirm to the AP that Huffman is helping with the investigation and the gunman has been taken into custody.

Huffman said he won’t comment until the police have completed their investigation.

If the story checks out, it’s pretty amazing.

Is it wrong to be just a bit skeptical? Running across the tabletops? Taking off his shirt first?

It just has the feeling of something a little too good to be true. I sincerely hope that’s not the case, that this is a legitimate thing that really happened.

But it’s a pro wrestler and this just sounds like a really cheesy script, doesn’t it?
