Deflate-Gate: New England Patriots Bill Belichick nearly talked about Tom Brady’s “personal preference on balls”
While talking to the media about Tom Brady’s balls, New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick had to catch himself before he started talking about Brady’s “personal preference on balls,” which would have easily destroyed the internet.
For those unfamiliar with the controversy, the NFL has discovered the New England Patriots were using under-inflated footballs during their 45-7 AFC Championship Game victory over the Indianapolis Colts last weekend.

During the game, the referees noticed the Patriots were using under-inflated balls and removed those balls from the game at halftime.
Per usual with anything slightly controversial in sports, people are crawling out of the woodwork to defend/condemn the Patriots for their flat balls. Quite frankly, I don’t really care. Everyone tries to gain an advantage somewhere in sports. The Patriots just like to play with squishier footballs; what’s the big deal?
If there’s one thing I do appreciate about “Deflate-gate,” as it’s somehow comparable to “Watergate,” it’s all the jokes, especially the ball jokes, all over the internet in the past week.
Ball-related humor isn’t funny; it’s hilarious!
Thank you, Brady and the Patriots for using soft footballs and opening our eyes to more comedy!
