Hilariously ironic sponsor shows up at Bill Belichick’s first conference since ‘Deflate-gate’

Early this Thursday morning New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick was lined up against a firing squad of questions about ‘Deflate-gate’ for the first time. He did his best to be tight lipped, it seemed like he had very little interest of humoring the reporters and repeated the same answer over and over. “I have no knowledge of that”.

Since everyone and their grandmother knew going in to this conference what the subject would be, it seems hilarious to me that this particular sponsor was chosen to be behind ol’ Bill during it.

OF ALL THE SPONSORS?! I’m sure it had to be put up after advertising deals were made earlier this year, but still! I’m sure the Patriots hadn’t thought this through and if they did, then it is a subtle troll of sorts. I mean come on, you’re being investigated by the NFL for under-inflating footballs and essentially cheating in the AFC championship game. A game that is worth a ridiculous amount of revenue, pride and history- and in your first conference you have a sponsor that refers to (all be it, slightly) the incident. Even Tom thinks that’s a little bold.

Investigations in to last Sunday’s AFC championship game continue, as it has emerged that 12 out of the 13 balls used by thee Patriots were under-inflated by up to 15%. There has been a wide spread debate about the incident- did they cheat? If they did, is it a big enough issue to warrant action by the National Football League? Would it have made any difference considering they beat the Colts by 38 points?

The bottom line is that the rules are there for a reason, and if it emerges that the Patriots had anything whatsoever to do with the under-inflation of those footballs, the league will surely have to take action against those responsible.

Would have made a difference to the score if the balls were inflated fully? Most commentators on the game don’t believe it would have, because the Colts were still very below standards and that the Patriots would have ran away with the game no matter what the percentage of ball inflation.
