Houston Texans defensive lineman J.J. Watt made a beautiful catch out of nowhere at Pro Bowl warmups that looked reminiscent of one of the best catches of the 2014 season.

The Pro Bowl offered up its annual listless competition between some of the best players in the NFL, but at least this time around we got some athletic fireworks. In addition to Odell Beckham Jr.’s beautiful catch, there was a less heralded catch that was reminiscent of Beckham’s catch from earlier this season which made waves as one of the best ever.

Yes, that’s defensive phenom and athletic freak J.J. Watt getting to work with an over-the-head catch that serves as a big man version of the leap. While Watt certainly doesn’t display the freakish leaping ability that does Beckham on his signature catch, that clip is certainly a testament to the overall athleticism of a likely finalist for the NFL MVP award.

It’s fitting that Watt’s season ended on such a note, as 2014 was certainly one for the ages. Watt was so much better than many of his peers that it was nearly impossible to chart his performance at times.

In ways that could be measured though, Watt reigned supreme, tallying 20.5 sacks, four forced fumble, one interception (which was returned for a touchdown) and, you guessed it, three receiving touchdowns.

If Watt keeps with the highlight reel catches, he can only expect more of those TD catches in the future.
