Los Angeles Lakers’ rookies carry baby dolls to every game (Video)

Los Angeles Lakers’ rookies have to carry around baby dolls to every game this season.

No, this is not some sort of weird ploy to keep the Lakers’ rookies from chasing after women, this is actually the Lakers’ way to haze these rookies and welcome them to the NBA. You might think that simply playing for the Lakers in one of their worst seasons in recent memory might be enough punishment, but this is hilarious.

According to ProBasketballTalk, this plan was actually dreamed up and seems to have the full endorsement of head coach Byron Scott. Normally this kind of thing is instigated by the veteran players, but Coach Scott says this:

“Absolutely…” Scott confirmed when asked if it was his idea. “They are in charge of bringing them to every home game, making sure they are right by their locker, that the baby is not crying or anything like that, then after the game take them home. My only concern is the will go in the family room, there are so many kids there they might try to take their babies. So they have to watch their babies, then on game days on the road they have to wear baby backpacks.”

The players seem to be taking to it pretty well, as you can see above that Jordan Clarkson claims that Rihanna is the mother of his baby. According to reports, Rihanna has been unavailable to comment on the legitimacy of Clarkson’s claim. This seems more like a trick a mean father would play on his kids, rather than a way to haze rookies, but I really like this.

Scott admitted that the worst part of his hazing was having to carry some bags, but Nick Young of the Lakers said his hazing involved Gilbert Arenas taking the wheels off of his car. Arenas is a well-known prankster, so it seems that Young and Scott got off pretty easy compared to what Clarkson and fellow rookie Tarik Black are enduring at the hands of Byron Scott and the Lakers.
