10. Eli Manning
Before Eli Manning won his first Super Bowl, against the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLII, Manning was close to being a bust for the New York Giants.
New Yorkers wanted both Eli and head coach Tom Coughlin out of New York in the 2007 season, especially after the Giants started 0-2.
Eli ended up throwing for 3,336 yards with 23 touchdowns and 20 interceptions, highlighted by a game that saw him throw three pick-sixes in a 41-17 loss to the Vikings.
However, despite coming through in the clutch when it counted most, Eli nearly found way to lose Super Bowl XLII, throwing an interception to Ellis Hobbs in the second quarter that was returned for 23 yards that could’ve put the Giants away early, however the Giants defense found a way to force the Patriots to go three-and-out, up 7-3.
While Manning won the Super Bowl MVP award, it’s the Giants defense that really won the Super Bowl, holding a record-breaking Patriots offense to just 14 points.
