Not only did we get to witness a magical carpet ride last fall with the Royals run to the World Series, but now they’re using that run to alter the bobblehead industry forever.

Last October the Kansas City Royals truly treated us with an amazing story. Not since 1985 had they even tasted the postseason, yet they fully capitalized on their 2014 Wild Card berth.

It was their never say did attitude and throwback style that captured fans. To think a team could be so dominant, winning their first eight playoff games, and not have one single identifiable star was mind boggling and refreshing.

Thankfully for us, the Royals organization is using that run to change the bobblehead figure forever. Although history suggests bobbleheads have been around for over 150 years, they started to make a semi-comeback in the early 90’s.

Much like anything else, they got old really quick.

Don’t call it a comeback:

The Royals are using memorable moments from ’14 to blend together with their bobbleheads for ’15.

How did anybody not think of this idea before?

Remember the sports figurines made by Starting Lineup that became popular in the 80’s? Those beloved guys would be placed in all sorts of baseball playing positions, yet the bobblehead geniuses could never get it going.

It’s a fantastic idea and brings back the bobblehead in a big way.
