Tom Brady ‘would love’ to give Malcolm Butler the MVP truck
By Cory Buck
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady said he ‘would love’ to give cornerback Malcolm Butler the truck that goes to the Super Bowl MVP.
Tom Brady called Malcolm Butler’s last-minute interception at his own goal line ‘the play of our season’ after the New England Patriots defeated the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX. The Super Bowl MVP repeatedly touted the game’s hero and even went so far as to say he’d be happy to give Butler the keys to the MVP truck.

“A guy like Malcolm who makes that type of instinctive, quick play, that’s one of his strong suits,” Brady said per WEEI. “I don’t think it surprised any of us players, because that’s really what his skill set is. A lot of people didn’t get to see that over the course of the season.”
Now Malcolm Butler is the hero of the game and he’ll retain a permanent spot in Boston sports lore with his quick read and ensuing interception, which prompted Brady to happily agree that it’s Butler who should get the prizes offered to the Super Bowl MVP.
“I would love to give him the truck,” Brady said. “I would love to do that. I’m going to figure out how to make that work.”
Well, it’s simple really, all you have to do is– oh wait, there’s taxes and such to worry about? Never mind, Tom, just ask your lawyer. He can make it happen, just like Malcolm Butler helped make the first Super Bowl victory for Brady in ten years.
“It comes off as a great play, which it really was, obviously the biggest time of the year. Someone had to make a play. It happened to be Malcolm.”
Brady expressed relief of sorts after years of falling just short of another Super Bowl ring.
“It was very quick how all that stuff transpired. And that’s football. We’ve been on the other end of that. Things that would happen once every 10 years happened against us. So it’s nice that it actually goes our way.”
A lot of things have gone Tom Brady’s way in his career, thanks to the tireless work of himself and coach Bill Belichick. As a result, the two have brought the franchise its fourth Super Bowl trophy. Giving up a truck is a small price to pay for having reached such heights.
