The NBA Trade Deadline is approaching and it appears the Orlando Magic are not ready to give up on Andrew Nicholson just yet.

It’s no secret that Andrew Nicholson is unhappy with the Orlando Magic. In his third year in the NBA, Nicholson has seen his minutes slip from 17 to 15 to 9 from Years 1, 2, and 3. At 25 years old, Nicholson is still a young player that has a ton of potential, but the 2012 first-round pick out of St. Bonaventure hasn’t turned many heads in his career.

With that being said, Nicholson still has two more years left on his rookie deal and considering he doesn’t cost a lot, the Magic may not want to move him. According to Yahoo Sports, the Magic are reluctant to get rid of him.

With a starting five consisting of Elfrid Payton, Victor Oladipo, Gordon, Tobias Harris, and Nikola Vucevic, the Magic decided to go with a smaller lineup and although it has yet to pay off, the reality is that the Magic are going to be an extremely good team in the future. However, their roster will need to reach their full potential before doing that.

Nicholson’s rookie contract isn’t expensive at all and even though he is extremely disgruntled, he wouldn’t have a hefty price tag over the next two years.

Also, Nicholson hasn’t really done anything special in his NBA career and by that reasoning alone, he wouldn’t bring in much in return. Although Nicholson could very well become a solid player elsewhere, the Magic aren’t ready to trade him.
