Pittsburgh Penguins fans played the role of poor hosts to Alexander Ovechkin and the Capitals.
The one thing about Washington Capitals superstar Alexander Ovechkin we all know is that he is one tough dude.

Unlike some scoring superstars in the NHL (Sidney Crosby cough, cough), Ovechkin will hunt you down and hit you into next month. He’s never been one to shy away from contact and takes more the role of Gordie Howe or Mark Messier as opposed to Wayne Gretzky.
He even has the teeth of a true hockey player.
Tonight his Caps traveled into Pittsburgh to take on the Penguins at the Igloo. Because Ovi already has a checkered past with the fans of Pittsburgh, anything he does will have a major eye towards it.
Midway through the third period, he opened up about 36,000 eyes as he chopped down on Penguins defenseman Kris Letang.
This type of play should have ignited a riot on the spot.
More shocking than no riot taking place was the fact that Ovechkin wasn’t penalized. Because Letang has a descent injury history which includes concussion issues, fans took matters into their own hands.
Ovechkin was doused in beer once he gathered himself on his bench. It seems like more punishment for the fans who let the $11 beers fly through the air instead down the hatchet.
Nevertheless, the Penguins did respond to the play as a few scrums broke out.
Although a hefty fine should be heading Ovechkin’s way soon, the Russian winger received the last laugh as he scored a goal in the game, extending his NHL leading mark to 37 for the year, as his team edged the Pens 3-1.
