Snoop Dogg recruiting Russell Westbrook back home to the L.A. Lakers (Video)
The Long Beach, California native Snoop Dogg, is recruiting Russell Westbrook back home to play for the Los Angeles Lakers.
In an interview with Ahmad Rashad of NBATV, Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard Kobe Bryant said, “I thought the Spurs were done 20 years ago. Those guys are still winning. … I’m hoping I can have the same rebirth.”
The rebirth that Bryant is hopefully wishing for could happen a lot sooner than expected with the moves that the Lakers could be making in the immediate future.
One of the biggest Lakers fans, Snoop Dogg, put this image on Instagram of another Long Beach, California, native, Russell Westbrook, coming back home to play for the iconic franchise (great photoshop work).
It’s no surprise seeing an image like that because after seeing the way that Westbrook dominated in the 2015 NBA All-Star game, where he scored 27 points in the first half en route to scoring 41 points (one shy of Wilt Chamberlain’s All-Star game record) and winning the MVP award, we’re going to hear a multitude of different fans recruiting his services.
Westbrook coming back to Los Angeles is a very interesting thought. The second that he were to sign with the franchise he would be one of the biggest free agent signings for the organization since Shaquille O’Neal.
Additionally, looking at the off-court interests of Westbrook’s career, Los Angeles is the perfect place for his flamboyant fashion. Playing for a bigger market in front of a bunch of celebrities on a regular could boost his star power within the league.

For a city that fell in love with Bryant for almost two decades, they would embrace the outspoken, and passionate 26 year old.
On the surface, Snoop’s recruitment makes sense because who wouldn’t want to win a championship for their hometown? Who wouldn’t want to play inside of the Staples Center almost twice a week? Who wouldn’t want to play with a franchise that’s won 16 championships in league history?
However, if Westbrook did decide to leave the Oklahoma City Thunder, he would have to make a decision before their forward, Kevin Durant.
Westbrook’s contract with the Thunder is up in 2017, and he would have to make a decision to leave a championship roster, playing with one of the best players in this generation, to want to go back home and play for adoring fans.
It’s a tough decision for Westbrook, but thankfully right now it’s only at the recruiting portion of talks. If Snoop manages to bring Westbrook back home to play for the Lakers then the Buss family needs to give him some type of executive position within the franchise.
The reasoning behind Snoop’s logic makes too much sense for this to only be mere speculation, keep an eye out for this later.
