The Nebraska men’s basketball team got locked out of their locker room following a 28 point loss to Iowa by head coach Tim Miles
Nebraska lost to the Iowa Hawkeyes 74-46 on Tuesday. The Cornhuskers now have lost 7 out of the last 8 games. Their on court issues have prompted head coach Tim Miles to lock the locker room doors with chains.
That’s right. Miles is grounding his team. Apparently losing by 28 points to Iowa is bad enough to make his players shower at home. Miles is very serious about this.
“There will be chains on the doors locking it from the outside,” Miles told the Omaha World Herald. “until further notice.”
What a huge punishment for his players. Nebraska’s locker room isn’t just a place where the athletes can get changed and shower. It includes big screen TV’s, I-pod plug-ins in the showers, and heated towel racks. Sounds like a pretty cool spot to me. But until they earn back their coaches approval, the players are going to be restricted from this area.

This isn’t the first time this month that a college coach has locked his players out of the locker room. Tom Herman, former Ohio State offensive coordinator and current head football coach at the University of Houston, locked his players out of the locker room as well. This was due to his players not thinking he has earned his stripes as a coach.

Well, he definitely shut them up pretty quickly. Sometimes you have to get the attention of your team in an extremely dramatic way. For Tim Miles and Tom Herman, that means harnessing their inner Coach Carter.
We will see if Miles’ actions will have any impact on the performance of the Cornhuskers team. This Thursday, they will face off against a tough Ohio State team to try and regain their momentum they had earlier in the season.
