Marshawn Lynch trademarks ‘I’m just here so I won’t get fined’
By Ryan Ratty
“I’m just here so I won’t get fined” has now been trademarked by Marshawn Lynch.
No one will truly ever understand Marshawn Lynch of the Seattle Seahawks. Sure he’s a jokester and it usually looks like he’s more about playing games than winning football games, but the fact remains that Lynch is an absolute freak as a running back. Lynch is one of the best running backs in the NFL and he shows each season why. However, the worst antic he had was during media day of this year’s Super Bowl when he answered the phrase, “I’m just here so I won’t get fined” to over 20 questions. Well, even though the latest news with Lynch should be about his contract extension, he finds himself in the news again for the wrong reason.

According to the Seattle Times, Lynch is looking to trademark the famous phrase. Crazily enough, this isn’t the first time Lynch has filed trademarks for his snarky remarks. Around the same time last year, Lynch trademarked the phrase, “I’m just about that action, boss”. After trademarking the phrase, Lynch would then go on to wear shirts, beanies, and hooded sweatshirts with the phrase on it.
Chris Bevans, who runs Lynch’s “Beast Mode” campaigned talked about the slogan and how the company is looking into the prospects of making this trademark a real thing.
“We heard from our fans and so many of them were saying that they wanted that phrase on the clothing,” Chris Bevans, who runs Lynch’s “Beast Mode” apparel line, told ESPN.com. “This is just listening to the marketplace.”
Lynch has already trademarked four phrases and he is also looking to trademark four more on top of this famous saying. However, at 27 years old, Lynch will be entering the last year of his contract in 2015 and while Doug Hendrickson, his agent, is negotiating for a new contract, the fact remains that the main thing Lynch is focusing on is his trademark, even though he should be focusing on his contract negotiation.
