The Chicago Bears are going to be shopping wide receiver Brandon Marshall as the new era of the team slowly starts to begin.

We have seen new coaching regimes come in and gut a franchise, and that may be happening with the Chicago Bears right now with John Fox. The new head coach has come in with a new deal and is being tasked with fixing a legendary team that has talent but has also fallen on hard times.

More from Chicago Bulls

Fox has already stopped well short of supporting Jay Cutler as his starter of the future and he’s continue to purge the old Bears from his new team.

According to Brad Biggs from the Chicago Tribune, the Bears are going to be exploring options to trade Brandon Marshall which may end with the Bears considering releasing him if they can’t find a buyer.

"One NFL source said the Bears are shopping Marshall with the idea of moving him. Another source said his belief is the team is taking calls in regard to Marshall. Trades cannot be finalized until 3 p.m. Tuesday."

That doesn’t meant he Bears are going to for sure trade Brandon Marshall, but it’s a sign that John Fox is not going to come in and make the same mistakes that saw both Lovie Smith and Marc Trestman fired in the last three years.

Brandon Marshall is a star receiver but he’s past his prime and he’s still not a completely reliable option. If the Bears can snag a decent trade for him and haul in some draft picks, then that might be something John Fox wants to do.

Chicago is aged, and they need a youth injection this offseason though the draft and if trading Marshall means building for the future then that might need to be what happens.
