Chip Kelly: Eagles were first-rounder for Bradford
By Josh Sanchez
While speaking with the media on Wednesday, Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly said his team has already been offered a first-round pick for Sam Bradford.
There has been an interesting development surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles. No, head coach Chip Kelly didn’t pull off a crazy move, but he did say something interesting while speaking to the media on Wednesday.
According to Kelly, the Eagles have already received a trade offer for the recently acquired Sam Bradford — which cost the Eagles quarterback Nick Foles, 2015 fourth-round pick and a conditional 2016 second-round pick.
What is this mystery team offering for Sam Bradford? Kelly claims the offer was a first-round pick.
Interesting.
While there is no word on the identity of the team who offered a first-round pick for Bradford — if a team even did — the most likely team who would have been capable of making the offer is the Cleveland Browns.
Not only did the Browns have strong interest in Bradford, they reportedly attempted to trade for the former 2010 NFL Rookie of the Year before he was shipped to Philadelphia.
If Kelly is really interested in trading up for his former signal-caller Marcus Mariota, he would likely take the mystery team up on their offer for the first-rounder — which would also mean the Eagles would get the 2016 second-round pick back from the trade with St. Louis.
Of course, Kelly claims he won’t mortgage the future to trade up for Mariota, so we will have to wait and see.
