New York Yankees left fielder Brett Gardner likes to use his bat for everything. And we mean “everything,” as this latest MLB.com video will show you.

A new Major League Baseball season is upon us, and with it, the expectation for great moments. While most of these events may happen on the field, you can be assured that a fair share will occur off of it. Take New York Yankees left fielder Brett Gardner for instance. The seven year veteran has quickly developed into one of the more underrated lead-off hitters in the game and is sure to find his way into a few highlight reels this summer.

A five-year veteran, Gardner owns a career batting line of .265/.346/.390 with 182 career stoles bases while providing stellar defense in left field with a career 25.8 UZR/150. Overall, he’s been worth 21.5 wins above replacement for his career for the Yankees according to FanGraphs. He’s obviously doing something right in order to be such an important fixture at the top of the Yankees line-up right?

What does he ultimately contribute his success to? Our money is on his improved hitting. That is perfectly understandable too. Gardner’s dedication to this is so deep, he never leaves his bat at home, for anything.

We know what you are probably thinking; purely exaggeration on our part, right? Well, not quite. Take a look at the following video posted below, courtesy of MLB.com. And as a bonus, count how many of the things Gardner uses his bat for that you would be willing to follow suit with. Our guess is not that many. But hey, we are not an adventurous bunch; certainly not like good old number 11.

Okay, so it was only four tasks. That is still four more than one would expect a player would use a bat for. And you have to give the man credit too; three of those were actually done adequately. We still would not touch the soup or drink that cup of soda after it came into contact with that used lumber, unless pine tar is the secret ingredient to a good gumbo. Nevertheless, kudos to the 31 year old for having the ingenuity to make it work.

As for shaving with a baseball bat; well, something tells us the trend of using actual razors is not going away anytime soon. You are on your own with that one, Brett.
