In a bizarre twist to a scary story, two Atlanta Hawks players were arrested at a New York nightclub after Indiana Pacers forward Chris Copeland was stabbed following an argument with two other people. Copland and his wife were both stabbed and rushed to a local hospital but that’s not the strangest part of the story.

Two Atlanta Hawks players were arrested at the scene of the stabbing for obstructing police officers from setting up a crime scene. According to reports, the players refused to move when police asked them to step out of an area that was being set up as a crime scene.
According to the New York Daily News, the Atlanta Hawks player arrested were Thabo Sefolosha and Pero Antic.
"Sefolosha, 30, and Antić, 32, refused to move when police tried to set up a crime scene, the sources said. They were charged with obstructing governmental administration."
This is a bizarre twist to an already insanely scary story, as the involvement of Sefolosha and Antic seems random at best. The Hawks are intern to play the Brooklyn Nets, but the NY Daily News states the players had merely just arrived in New York when they were arrested for obstruction.
It’s unclear what deeper connection they have to the stabbing — if any at all — but their arrests aren’t going to sit well with the NBA or with the Hawks.
Atlanta has locked up the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and both Sefolosha and Antic combined for 32 points in a win over the Phoenix Suns just hours before thy were arrested in New York. This is hardly the distraction the team needs at this point in the season, but more importantly it’s not a look that the NBA wants to be touting around to every single major news outlet in the world right now.
Meanwhile, Copeland is reportedly in Stable condition along with his wife. It’s a scary situation that is only starting to unfold and there are clearly many intricate angles to a story that will take a while for police to figure out.
