After earning the Pac-12 women’s tennis championship, the USC women’s tennis team shattered their trophy.
Uh oh.
After completing a perfect Pac-12 Conference season, the USC women’s tennis team accidentally smashed their championship trophy. At least that’s the way the story was narrated by the school’s official Twitter handle.

The women’s team defeated their biggest rival, UCLA, 4-3 on Thursday to capture the Pac-12 championship and complete the perfect conference season.
The entire team was watching Madison Westby as she finished here singles match, winning 6-2, 6-2 in straight sets to finish off the team win and conference championship.
Each member of the team swarmed her after the match point. But that wasn’t where the team broke the trophy.

Unfortunately there is no video of the trophy smashing, so it will remain a conspiracy as to whether the smashing was accidental.
Okay, it was obviously accidental. But it’s clear it’s about the only mistake the Trojans women’s tennis team has made all year. They hope to ride the momentum of a perfect conference record into the NCAA women’s tennis tournament.
