Justin Bieber wanted to wrestle at WWE SummerSlam 2014

During the course of last year, Justin Bieber apparently wanted to delve into the world of professional wrestling

Being one of the most hated figures in all of pop culture these days, you can safely assume that Justin Bieber would fit magically into the world of WWE, especially if he were booked as a heel that you just wanted to see get his a** kicked all the time.

Well, here’s the thing: Apparently it almost happened in 2014.

Former WWE writer Kevin Eck recently posted up a new blog where he revealed that there were indeed talks about bringing Bieber into the company for their annual SummerSlam event. Also, Bieber was completely on board with the idea, as he wanted to team with none other than John Cena, as well as The Big Show, to take on the Wyatt Family on the big stage in Los Angeles.

"The proposed match was discussed among the booking team (which I was on) about five months before SummerSlam, but a deal with Bieber never came to fruition. I’m not sure how close it was to actually happening. My concern at the time was that Cena teaming up with Bieber — who was making headlines for all the wrong reasons and most definitely would have been booed unmercifully by the WWE audience — would not have done Cena, the face of the company, any favors. To address that concern, the creative suggestion was that Cena would become increasingly annoyed by Bieber in the weeks leading up to the match, but Big Show, who would be portrayed as Bieber’s friend, would repeatedly play peacemaker."

In a twist that a lot of people will love, Eck also explained that another idea that he came up with was for the team featuring Cena and Bieber to win the match, and afterwards, Bieber would become so obnoxious in claiming the win for himself that Cena would deliver an Attitude Adjustment.

Now, that’s definitely one way to get John Cena over with the crowd, having him drop Bieber on worldwide television, much like he did to Kevin Federline years ago.

But in all seriousness, Eck was right to be concerned with potentially bringing in the troubled star. Would it have given the company a lot of mainstream attention? Sure as hell it would have, however the headaches that would have come along with the partnership would be too much to handle.
