It’s a whole new day in Buffalo for their beloved Bills. They’ve hired a new coach in Rex Ryan who has spent some time firing up the fan base with many of the same phrases and promises he sold Jets fans when he first came on there.

Is this finally the time the Bills can return to their glory days (albeit glory days which involved four straight losing Super Bowl appearances)? The AFC East isn’t getting any easier, and while they are very talented, there are also several holes—some critical—which won’t make the task on their end any easier.

Over the next month or so we’ll be taking a look at each team in the NFL and breaking down what works, what doesn’t, where their strengths are and where they need to improve.

We start off with the Bills because more than many teams in the NFL, Buffalo has made some big alterations to both the front office and the roster, and yet there are some areas that barely changed. This is still very much the same defense, and still very much an offense with a big question mark under center.

Can the Bills overcome the rest of the division? The Miami Dolphins and New York Jets appear to have improved, though are not exactly juggernauts. The New England Patriots just won the Super Bowl, but have lost some key pieces of their defense and could have to deal with some suspensions in the aftermath of the silliest scandal in NFL history—Deflategate.

Now might be the perfect time for Buffalo to make their move.

Let’s take a look at the major position groups and what they need to do to take the Bills back to the Super Bowl.
