Somebody made wooden Air Jordans that cost $10,000

There’s a pair of wooden Air Jordans on eBay for the reasonable price of $10,000

Say you’ve always wanted Air Jordans. Nothing wrong with that; Michael Jordan is pretty cool, and they say he was good at basketball.

But which would you rather have: a regular old pair of Air Jordans, or a wooden sculpture of Air Jordans?

Well, if you change your mind, just know that the latter really is available for sale on eBay. Someone handcrafted a wooden sculpture of the original Air Jordans, and they can be yours for the low low price of $10,000.

Hey, wooden shoes don’t come cheap. Do you think the elves in the fairy tales worked for free? Those elves need their commissions, man.

These shoes were probably not made by elves (though you never know), but were carved out of butternut wood into an exact replica of Michael Jordan’s signature shoe. There is only one pair available (men’s size twelve, in case you needed to know that).

Here’s the eBay listing, and here’s what the shoes look like:

The eBay listing contains an 11-paragraph history explaining the seller’s reason for making the shoes. The seller talks about his poor childhood when he could not afford brand name Air Jordans, and writes, “I believe that dreams are meant to be shared; therefore I’m making them available for someone who can appreciate them as much as I do.”

…well yeah, except that you made them $10,000. That doesn’t exactly make them more accessible.

As of this writing, the shoes have zero bids. That may change in time.

Will anyone buy these? It’s hard to say. They’re pretty cool, if extremely overpriced, and people spend their money in weird ways all the time. Creed’s Human Clay album sold 20 million copies. If 20 million people voluntarily spent money in order to have their ears subjected to Creed’s musical form of torture, there should be one person out there who will pony up for this sculpture. There’s got to be someone out there who loves Michael Jordan and doesn’t need a fifth car, and will happily pay the big bucks to display this proudly.

What I’d like to see is someone trying to play basketball while wearing these. Now that might be worth ten grand.
