LeBron James says Mike Miller, James Jones and himself ‘Big 3’
LeBron James thinks that James Jones, Mike Miller and himself are the real “Big 3” in Cleveland.
The NBA is transitioning toward an NBA championship mold that requires three superstar athletes surrounded by role players throughout the rest of the roster.
The Miami Heat had Chris Bosh, Dwayne Wade, and LeBron James, and they won two championships. The San Antonio Spurs won it last year with Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and Kawhi Leonard. This year, the Cleveland Cavaliers have Kevin Love, Kyrie Irving and LeBron James. Even though Love is out for the remainder of the year, that must be the Big Three in Cleveland, right?
According to King James, the Big Three in Cleveland aren’t the best players on their roster. It’s James Jones, Mike Miller and James. If you think about it, it kind of makes sense. The three have been playing beside one another since 2010 when LeBron decided to take his talents to South Beach. They have been to the NBA finals four times, won two championships and are returning this year to the finals with each member of this big 3 active on the roster.
I wonder how Irving feels about this. What about Bosh and Wade? Shouldn’t they feel a little slighted? Well, the truth is, LeBron said it halfheartedly after winning the Eastern Conference finals while sipping on some champagne. So I don’t think he was too serious about Jones and Miller replacing Irving and Love as the focal point of the Cavs organization.
Still, when you go to five straight NBA Finals together that has to mean there is a special bond between you. And if they end up winning the NBA Championship this year, it will be their third in four years.
When you tune into the NBA finals starting on June 4th, don’t be surprised to see Irving and LeBron steal the show like they normally do. Just know that another three-man duo has a history of winning together, and James feels that special bond deserves the title “the Big Three.”
