MLB Power Rankings: How long can Cardinals stay at the top?
The top teams in our MLB Power Rankings suffered through some stumbling to start June, but how does that reflect in the hierarchy?
Throughout the early weeks of the Major League Baseball season, our rankings have seen quite a bit of shuffling up and down the weekly standings. Now, as we settle into the dog days of summer, things are beginning to calm down a bit. Movement is less drastic and we’re getting a consistent look at which squads represent the top dogs and which ones are scraping the bottom of the barrel.
That said, there is still plenty of room for movement. The top three teams in the American League East are seemingly laying claim to a division that has been up for grabs all season long, with all three putting together impressive streaks over the last week-plus. There is still work to be done in the division, but these teams could soon be knocking on the top-5 if they continue their current strong play.
Speaking of streaking (insert Will Ferrell soundbite here), how about those Texas Rangers? Long out of it after a rough April, the Rangers have climbed back into the race in the American League West, trailing their Texas counterparts in Houston by just two games. Could a rivalry be in the works?
Well, enough talk about streaking. Let’s see how the hot play has affected our MLB Power Rankings.
