Chicago Blackhawks win the 2015 Stanley Cup
By Mike Dyce
At Game 6, the Chicago Blackhawks won the Stanley Cup on their home ice.
The Chicago Blackhawks have done the unthinkable, won their third Stanley Cup in six years. Incredibly, the Blackhawks had the chance to do something that hasn’t been done in 77 years, win the Stanley Cup in Chicago.
Things looked rough through the first period, both teams having chances and the period ending in a 0-0 draw. The first goal came from the Duncan Keith in the second period, when he got a shot on goal then was able to get into the slot to get his own rebound and put the puck in the back of the net.
In the third period, an incredible one-timer goal from Patrick Kane off a no-look pass gave the Blackhawks an insurance goal to make sure they had wiggle room down the stretch.
The Blackhawks were able to hang on and hold off the Lightning down the stretch to win the Stanley Cup.
Impressively this was the first time in the series a team led by two goals, which shows you how close the series was. Corey Crawford was able to get a shutout in Game 6 to clinch the Stanley Cup, the first to do so since 2011.
The game ended with the traditional handshake, like after every NHL playoff series.
Duncan Keith won the Conn Smythe Trophy…
… in dominating fashion. He also basically scored the goal to win the Stanley Cup in Game 6.
