NASCAR Sprint Cup Standings 2015: Update after Sonoma
With Kyle Busch picking up his first victory of the season, where do the drivers stand on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Standings.
Road Racing always tends to cause some movement in the points standings. This week was no different. After Martin Truex Jr. appeared to be reeling in Kevin Harvick overall in points, he would wreck at Sonoma, and all his work to climb up near Harvick went to waste as he would fall several points back of the No. 4 again.
Jimmie Johnson regained a spot in the points as he almost won his fifth race of the season, and had a strong run overall on the day at Sonoma. Johnson once again is looking like the best driver in NASCAR, and while the points are moot at this point for him because he already has the most wins on the year, he is slowly climbing back up to the top.
For others, it was a bad day. Matt Kenseth already has a win on the year and doesn’t have to worry, but a bad day of road racing, which he typically hates sent him back a spot, and Jeff Gordon, who has won Sonoma more times than anyone, lost a spot as well after the race.
With Kyle Busch winning, and Jimmie Johnson rising, here are the NASCAR Sprint Cup Standings after Sonoma.
