Albert Pujols got the best of Kris Bryant in the Home Run Derby on Monday night, but it wasn’t easy by any means

The new format of the Home Run Derby that we’re seeing on Monday night is giving us some exciting moments, and we definitely got one of those exciting moments in the first round match up that everyone was looking forward to coming in — Albert Pujols vs Kris Bryant.

With the way the seeding worked out, we were given a battle between one of the best sluggers in this generation and one of the best up-and-coming talents that we have seen this year. Bryant went first in the opening round and he set the tone with nine home runs.

Well, Pujols would end up hitting just one more than Bryant and he used all of the time that he absolutely had to do it.

That was another example of just how well this new format is working out so far, because you can’t get a much more dramatic outcome than that right there. The old man came back and was able to knock off the youngster with time running out.

Yep, this format is here to stay.
