Undertaker returns at WWE Battleground 2015 (Video)
The Undertaker showed up at WWE Battleground to set up a match for Summerslam.
The Undertaker is back in WWE. One of the most recognizable figures in the history of WWE made his return to the company at WWE Battleground on Sunday night in St. Louis. This is the first time that we’ve seen The Undertaker since he wrestled Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania 31:
Taker’s return happened during the main event of Battleground as The Deadman got involved in the WWE World Heavyweight Championship Match between Brock Lesnar and champion Seth Rollins. The Undertaker turned his sights on Lesnar and cost him the match with a beatdown full of Chokeslams and Tombstones, seemingly planting the seeds for a program that will be running through Summerslam at the end of August:
Lesnar ended The Undertaker’s undefeated streak at Wrestlemania two years ago in a match that left Taker in bad shape. That match fueled the push behind Lesnar as The Beast for the past year and a half. Lesnar ending the streak has been brought up numerous times in recent weeks by Paul Heyman, which now serves as foreshadowing to Undertaker’s return.
Heyman’s verbal lashing of Kane this Monday also seems to serve as foreshadowing now that Taker is back. Heyman brought up The Undertaker in regards to Kane a few times, which seems quite preconceived at this point.
As for Taker going forward, he looks to be in the right kind of shape to get back into the ring. More importantly, it’s amazing in 2015 to not have to wait until Wrestlemania 32 to see him and hear the bells ringing through a dark arena again. Even if rumors saw it coming, the excitement of a return by Taker never subsides.
